Item #T-103: Susquehanna 2006-2007: Invasion of the Yellow Jackets
Run time: 134 Minutes
This title focuses on daily and local operations, and the transformation of a large percentage of the NYS&W motive power fleet from predecessor paint jobs to a make-over in yellow and black! Yellow and black painted units became few and far between after the B40-8s were returned to CSX when their lease expired in 2003. All of the newly acquired road power was in a myriad of paint schemes, leaving only the three unit local fleet and the two un-retired SD-45s in yellow and black. This title spans two years of footage due to a catastrophic loss of all video clips prior to July 2006 in a computer hard drive failure. This title begins in late 2006, when only two of the four SD40T-2 "tunnel motors" wore yellow and black colors. As the chapters progress, you'll slowly see the repainting spree that occurred on most of the motive fleet. By the last scene, filmed in August 2007, you'll notice that most of the motive power again wears yellow and black colors!
My clips usually show the complete passage of the train, from the first engine, to the last car. Some chapters document the same train in multiple locations; a true "chase".
Highlights include:
-
A reverse movement of train Su-99 back to Little Ferry Yard after being stranded on the CNY Southern Tier for nearly a week due to catastrophic flooding.
-
A rare detour movement of CP train #258 down the NYS&W Southern Division due to a derailment at Bridge 60 near Taylor Yard in Pennsylvania.
-
The installation of the Southern Division's first defect detector outside of yard limits at MP 63.6
-
A two week long CSX detour spree as the result of a major hazmat derailment near Oneida NY, in March 12, 2007 on the Chicago Line.
-
The gradual repainting and rebuilding of most of the railroad's motive fleet.

Item #T-102: Susquehanna 2005: From Tri-Weekly to Tri-Daily
Run time: 145 Minutes
This title deals primarily on the operations of the NYS&W during the 2005 calendar year. In 2005, the NYS&W entered into an agreement with CSX to operate two re-routed trains and two detour trains over NYS&W rails in order to alleviate congestion at Selkirk yard on the CSX River Subdivision. The NYS&W saw a six to seven month spike from tri weekly road traffic to tri daily road traffic. The title gives some history and details of the agreement, and shows footage that documents the train symbols and power that ran over the NYS&W during 2005.
Highlights include:
-
Power from many different railroads (Norfolk Southern, CSX, Wisconsin Central, BNSF, Canadian National, and NYS&W), and leasing companies (HELM and GE.)
-
Footage of a brand new GE Evolution Series Locomotive fresh out of the shop and in road service on the NYS&W
-
Footage of the NYS&W Alcos recently acquired from the Cartier Mining Company
-
The infamous clip that got me investigated by the FBI for "Suspicious Railroad Photography"
-
Footage of the revival of NYS&W F45 #3636 after five years out of service due to a blown crankshaft
-
Footage of the booming construction and debris hauling business on the Southern Division

Item #T-101: Susquehanna 2004:
The Chase Continues...
Run time: 126 Minutes
This title focuses primarily on Southern division action between Little Ferry NJ, and Warwick, NY. Movements throughout the various seasons of the year are documented in this volume. Featured trains include NYS&W manifest trains, CSX detour trains, and a CP Rail detour train.
NOTE: This is the second title in my series. Updates from title #T-100 include more stable, diverse, and clearer shots. This title was produced using more advanced DVD editing software, than title #T-100 and I think you'll agree the differences are noticeable. Additional features include: A fully navigable title and chapter menuing system complete with animated thumbnails and chapter scene descriptions.
Highlights include:
-
CP Rail detour train #414 resulting from a damaged bridge at Taylor Yard along the Sunbury line
-
CSX temporary re-routes of trains Q-156 and Q-271 due to River Line track work
-
A monstrous Su-99 that was delayed until the passing of a severe winter snow storm
-
Quite possibly the longest train to ever traverse the Susquehanna - Train Q-271 with a combined total of 144 autoracks and mixed freight!
